A Recap Of Southern Baptist Hurricane Relief Efforts
Literally before the rain and wind had stopped, Southern Baptist Disaster Relief teams, both from Texas and nationwide were on the ground in both Florida and Texas. Southern Baptist Disaster Relief is the third largest disaster organization in America, numbering over 95,000 trained and equipped volunteers. They are often the first to arrive and the last to leave.
As of September 16th in Texas alone they have served over 60,000 displaced people, prepared thousands of meals, provided counseling, laundry service, and shower service for evacuees at shelters. Additionally they have deployed a child care unit equipped to serve 5,000 children in need. They also have provided food for the first responders, rescue and recovery teams.
Southern Baptists in the coming days, weeks and months will continue to provide meals, mud-out service, rebuild and new build construction, counseling, and laundry service to those impacted by these catastrophic events.
A note from our Sunday School Director about Hurricanes Irma and Harvey.
Isa. 25:4 "For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is a storm against the wall."
Over the past few days and weeks, the southern region of our country has experienced two powerful storms in the form of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. The effects of Irma were felt even in our local area with damage and loss of electricity. This is in addition to many of us who have family and friends who were adversely affected who were closer to the hurricane paths. To be prepared for these storms, one must be prepared in the temporal realm with the necessary supplies, but to be prepared in the Spiritual realm, one must have a Full Knowledge and Personal Relationship with Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We welcome Each of You to our Sunday School to learn how to prepare for the Storms of Life in the Spiritual realm by learning a Full Knowledge of and Developing a Personal Relationship with Jesus Christ.
